Stones Representing Mata Nui and Makuta
Before Mata Nui came to our island, disease, drought, famine and conflicts between
villages plagued us. Then the spirit, Mata Nui, came, and we were cured of our sicknesses, the streams
flowed, the plants grew lush and green and any feuds were settled. We revered Mata Nui for his goodness,
hence the name of this island. Our glorious paradise lasted far too short. Mata Nui's brother, the evil
spirit Makuta (who, it is said, is Mata Nui's twin, the second half of the whole of evil and good) descended
upon us, and out of greed and jealousy, cast Mata Nui into an everlasting sleep. When the Turagas refused
to honor him, he cast his shadow over the whole island. He built a hoard of cursed creatures, called
the Rahi, to do his command, to do what he sees as teaching us a lesson. . . one we will never forget.
No one has ever laid eyes on Makuta, or at least no one living. We Tohunga, in the telling
of his coming, use a jagged black stone to represent him. It is said that his heart is as black as this
stone. He and his armies of Rahi have strength that can only be rivaled by the force of the Toa, armed
with the Kanohi Masks. As Makuta has proved, he can overpower his own twin brother, Mata Nui.

Among the Rahi, nothing is a greater threat to Ga-Koro than the Tarakava (right) breed of Rahi. They
attack quickly from underneath the water, causing masses of destruction. They are rarely seen on land,
and if they are, they are at a great disadvantage against the Toa or even just Tohunga warriors.
(Huki speaks) Rahi Muaka and Kane-Ra (below) have the largest meanstreak in them that
you'll ever see. When you meet up with this murderous twosome, I reccomend retreating very, very quickly.
This doesn't always work anyway, because the tiger Muaka's neck can extend to grab prey from a distance.
There is a story, written by one of the first Turaga of Po-Koro that Pohatu would ride on the back of
the legendary bull, Kane-Ra. It seems that Pohatu will have to free it from Makuta's control first.

(Kongu speaks) Out of all the Rahi, Nui-Rama (right) are perhaps the weakest, but they put their
Tohunga or Toa opponent at a great disadvantage - they can fly. If the Toa have the Kanohi Miru, they
can float and glide in the air, but a Nui-Rama can fly faster than a Toa with this mask. Another great
weapon a Nui-Rama has are it's wings. These can be useful to catch below a mask and flick it off. Although
weak, these Rahi are very tough opponents!
(Onepu speaks) The fast moving Nui-Jaga's (left) greatest weapon is it's swift tail, tipped with
a poisonous stinger. This tail can flick out far, fast and unexpectedly, and if the blow does not finish
you off right then and there, the poison acts as fast as Nui-Jaga does itself. Luckily, there is a cure
we have developed, but it must be given in haste. The best defence against Nui-Jaga is to move faster
than it and stay out of it's reach, using hit and run tactics.

(Matoro speaks) Not much is known about the crab-like Mana, except that they are the deadliest
of all. This is the reason little is known about the Mana, because few have survived an encounter with
one. The Mana are very fast moving and it is said that they are Makuta's personal guards. It has been
said that only the Toa, armed with all of the Masks of Power can defeat the Mana. The Toa have not yet
been pitted against these lethal enemies, but when they are, I wish them luck. . . unfortunately, they
might need it.
(Jala speaks) All Rahi wear masks that Makuta have cursed. These are Infected Masks
(right). If a Rahi's mask was removed somehow, they would no longer serve Makuta, and could probably
even be tamed for the side of good. Usually, these masks appear rusted and weathered. If you put on one
of these masks, you would instantly be Makuta's servant.

The Foretelling and Arrival of the Toa
In the last showdown between Makuta and Mata Nui, Mata Nui gave Makuta a warning. He told Makuta
that his downfall would come in the form of six heroes, called Toa, representing each element: Fire,
Water, Stone, Earth, Wind and Ice. With the Kanohi Masks of Power in their possession, these Toa would
have power that would surpass even the power of Makuta and his Rahi. It is said that a brief flash of
fear passed over Makuta, but his fury grew and he cast Mata Nui into the everlasting sleep. The Turaga
recorded this prophecy, clinging to the hope that one day the Toa would come and save us from the
dark shadow that Makuta has cast upon us. . .
Thankfully, Mata Nui was true to his word. The Toa have come. Everyone knew something was going to
happen that day the Toa arrived. Everyone sensed it. Then the Toa washed up on the shores near Ta-koro,
in these big canisters. We knew in one look at them that they will save us from Makuta's darkness. They
are awesome, with strength so incredible, the sight of it takes your breath away. Makuta's gonna be sorry
he ever came down to our island.
(Matoro speaks) Kopaka is the Toa of Ice. Some Tohunga compare his personality to a
harsh winter. Indeed he is cold towards others. He prefers working alone. When he first met Pohatu, he
stated this fact, and much to Kopaka's irritation Pohatu replied "Is that by choice or because no one
can stand you?" This is how most people see Kopaka. They were surprised to see one of the great Toa be
so cold. But he has determination in battle. He will fight until he overcomes his opponent or they overcome
him, which is not a great possibility. He has the strength to start, as well as stop, avalanches, and
his mighty sword can freeze anything in it's wake.

(Kongu speaks) The Toa of the Wind is Lewa. He can swing faster than I can! He's the jokester of
the group, and he is very likeable, although Kopaka and Tahu find him irritating. He is a swift mover
and thinker, but his inability to take things seriously can get in the way. He is armed with a powerful
axe that can cut through nearly everything. He uses tricks to overcome his opponent in battle, and has
much strength in body and in personality.

(Onepu speaks) Onua, the Toa of Earth, has the greatest strength of all the Toa and wisdom only
surpassed by Gali's. He is level headed and good natured. He is armed with his giant claws, which have
numerous uses: they can dig faster than any Tohunga's tool, and they can be effective as a weapon. He
has only one disability: being used to the darkness of underground, just like the Tohunga of Onu-Koro,
he cannot work in daylight. Onua usually uses his great strength to overpower any opponent.

(Huki speaks) The Toa of Stone is Pohatu, the sturdiest fighter you'll ever see.
Although his strength is not as great as Onua's, he can handle much more abuse. He is kind hearted, and
all the Toa, even Kopaka, cannot help but like him. I know this sounds foolish, but his greatest weapon
is his own two feet. Those feet can literally move mountains and can pack a serious kick at an opponent.
Without the Kanohi Kakama, Pohatu cannot move very quickly, but with the mask, his speed can match Lewa's.
Pohatu's dependibility is unsurpassed by any of the Toa. Even if the hostile Kopaka was in trouble,
Pohatu would stand by him to the last. Pohatu only fears one thing: water. He does his best to avoid
water, and even if when he does have the mask of water breathing in his possession, he will still stay
far away from water. In battle, Pohatu uses his feet to kick his enemy or to send boulders flying at
them (and I thought I was good at kicking boulders!)

(Maku speaks) The wisest of all the Toa is Gali, the Toa of Water. She is peacful and kind, but
don't think these traits make her weak. She is a very tough opponent. She can fight swiftly and harshly,
using her hook hands, which she most commonly uses for mountain climbing. No Toa can swim like Gali,
who can swim faster than a fish in the ocean. She is respected by all the Toa for her vast amounts of
knowledge in all subjects.
(Jala speaks) Tahu, the Toa of Fire, is the most skilled fighter of any living being on
the whole island. He fights fast, hard and furiously against anyone -- even in a practice drill (I should
know, I practice with him). He is hot-tempered, irritable and impatient, too impatient. He tends not
to think about what he's doing and jumps straight into it. This gets him into serious trouble, and it
can be difficult for even the other Toa to pull him out of it, partially because he resists their help.
He is armed with a sword that can cut through or melt anything.
(Hafu speaks) There are stories that when the Toa have completed their quests and obtained all of
the Masks of Power, they will join into two beings, the Toa Kaita, to fight Makuta: Akamai and Wairuha.
Wairuha is the united form of Tahu, Pohatu and Onua. Akamai is the united form of Lewa, Kopaka and Gali.
It is said by some that Toa can only use this ability once, but the truth behind this is unknown.

The Kanohi Masks of Power
Told by Onepu of Onu-Koro

Forged by Mata Nui's own hand, the Kanohi Masks of Power are a priceless weapon. When Mata Nui created
them, he placed six of the Great Masks of Power in a temple outside each village. He granted six of the
Noble Masks of power to each of the Turagas. When Makuta heard Mata Nui's foretelling of the Toa, being
armed with the Kanohi Masks, he scattered them across the island, so when the Toa came, they wouldn't
have any masks to help them, but he cursed some for himself, using these infected masks to control his
Rahi. With all the Kanohi in their possession and the special abilities it grants the wearer, the Toa
might even have the strength to defeat Makuta himself.
The Great Kanohi Masks give great abilities to the wearer. There are confirmed six different
mask types, and their are six or more colors of these.

(Jala speaks) The Kanohi Hau, Tahu's favorite mask, is the Great Mask of Shielding. This is a useful
mask, becasue it protects the wearer from attacks, but only if the wearer is aware of them. If it is
an ambush, this shielding ability does not take effect. Each Toa must collect one of these. You notice
that I wear a Kanohi Hau. It is actually just an ordinary mask, a good luck charm in battle. There are
stories speaking of a Gold Kanohi Hau, one of limitless powers. These stories have been confirmed.

(Maku speaks) The Kanohi Kaukau is the mask of water-breathing. This gives the wearer a great advantage
that is particularly useful when fighting the water dwelling Tarakava. The need arises for this ability
often. Being the Toa of Water, this is Gali's favorite mask. The Toa must get one Kanohi Kaukau each.

(Huki speaks) Perhaps the most useful mask is the Kanohi Kakama. This mask grants the wearer speed,
an ability that is coveted by many. This is Pohatu's mask of choice, since he is slow without it. This
is the Mask I wear, but it has no ability that I know of. Each Toa have to get on of these.

(Onepu speaks) The Kanohi Pakari gives more brute strength to the wearer.
The uses of this is obvious. Not only this, but it also gives the wearer the ability to endure more abuse.
This Mask is favored by Onua. The Toa each must get this mask.

(Kongu speaks) This Mask, the Kanohi Miru, allows the wearer the gift to float and glide. This is
a great ability to have for any situation. This is the mask that Lewa wears most of the time, as he finds
the most uses out of it. This mask must be collected by each of the Toa.

(Matoro speaks) The Kanohi Akaku is the Great Mask of X-Ray vision. With it, the wearer can see
through anything from a thin curtain to a thirty foot thick barricade. It is very helpful in uncovering
ambushes. This is Kopaka's chosen mask, and mine, although my mask doesn't give me great powers. Each
Toa must get one of these to accomplish their goal.

(Onepu speaks) The Noble Masks of Power are not as strong as the Great Masks of Power,
but the abilities they give to the wearer is just as helpful, such as the ability to turn invisible and
to be able to read any language.

(Jala speaks) The Kanohi Huna is the Noble Mask of Concealment, allowing the wearer to turn invisible.
This has great uses, such as sneaking by unnoticed and spying on the enemy. This is the mask that Turaga
Vakama prefers. To complete their quest, each of the Turaga must get one of these masks.

(Maku speaks) The Kanohi Rau gives the wearer the ability to read any language. This is why Nokama
favors this mask. Although it is not useful in battle, it is most helpful when you are trying to look
up information. The Turaga each must obtain one of these masks.

(Hafu speaks) the Kanohi Komau has one of the greatest abilities of all the Masks of Power, one
that could be very dangerous if it falls into the wrong hands: mind control. When it's power is in use,
others do whatever the wearer commands. This is effective against everything, including the Rahi, therefore
it can stop attacks and will allow the user to remove the infected masks the Rahi wear. This is Turaga
Onewa's favored mask. The Turaga must get one of these Each.

(Onepu speaks) The Kanohi Ruru grants the user the ability of Night Vision. No matter
how dark it is, the eyes of the wearer can see as if it were daytime. The Tohunga of Onu-Koro's eyes
cannot penetrate all darkness, and this is why Turaga Whenua chooses this mask, to enhance his natural
gift. Each Turaga must get one Kanohi Ruru to accomplish their mission.

(Kongu speaks) The wearer of the Kanohi Mahiki can create illusions with their minds. This is the
reason Turaga Matau favors this mask (The other Turaga scowl at this, thinking he uses it irresponsibly.
There isn't anything wrong with having some fun!). It can be a valuable weapon. The illusion can trick
the enemy, giving the wearer and his allies a chance to escape or attack the enemy while it is distracted.
The Turaga each have to obtain a Kanohi Mahiki.

(Matoro speaks) The Mask of Telekinesis, Kanohi Matatu, grants the user the power to move objects
with his or her mind. It can also be used to strike out a physical blow at an enemy with the wearer's
mind. If you want a strong blow, think of something you are opinionated about or that makes you angry.
Turaga Nuju chooses this mask over the others. This mask must be in the possession of each of the Turaga
in order for their quest to be completed.

(Onepu speaks) There are other masks, masks out of long lost legends, when all the masks above are
known to be factual. These masks named below all grant very useful powers, and if they are true, then
they would be very valuable.

(Jala speaks) In my mind, the most plausible legend is that of the Gold Kanohi Hau, the
Greatest Mask of Power. It is said to contain double the power of all the Great Masks of Power put together.
If so, this would be a weapon to be treasured. . . both for the Toa, and for Makuta.

(Hafu speaks) In the legends of the Toa Kaita, it is said that for Onua, Pohatu and Tahu to become
Wairuha, they must get the Kanohi Rua, the Great Mask of Valor. It is silver in color and resembles the
Kanohi Hau, but combines the powers of the Kanohi Hau, Kakama and Pakari, making the wearer practically
undefeatable.

(Onepu speaks) Legends tell of a seventh Great Mask of Power, the Kanohi Vahi, Mask of Time. The
wearer can use it to slow down time for everyone but themself. This gives them an advantage over opponents
because they will be moving slower then they will. It is also good for making quick escapes.
